Vintage Handwoven Cover/Lid for Zulu Beer Pot - Handmade in South Africa

This Zulu Imbenge Beer Pot Cover is tightly woven using grass and Ilala Palm leaves found in Kwa-Zulu Natal, South Africa, and is covered with intricately designed white beads giving it a lace look, with red, black beads forming an additional Zulu pattern.

This traditional Beer Pot Cover tops the Beer Pot (Ukhamba) to keep dust and insects out of the homemade sorghum beer as shown in the last photo.

The top and bottom side of this Imbenge are shown and an example of how it is used is shown in the last photo with a different Imbenge that is in another listing. The Ukhamba/ is not included in the price and the Imbenge on the example are not included in this listing price.
